Range

The Texas Banded Gecko ranges from Southeastern New Mexico, south through West Texas and throughout the Chihuahua desert in the Mexican states of Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, Durango, Chihuahua and Tamaulipas

Habitat

C. brevis is associated with rocky habitats throughout the Chihuahua desert, from sandstone and scree slopes, to dried river beds at canyon bottoms.

Variations

In the United States, Texas Banded Geckos have minimal pattern and color variation. Adults resemble a small Leopard Gecko with alternating bands of purple to brown on a cream to yellow background, and small dark spots throughout. Further south into their range, there is a tendency for the small dark spots to be faded or absent.
